Moonrise

Sunset upon me

My brightness now fadeth

Alone with the sea am I

While a cascade of hues dance before me

The glare of day gone

Fadeth all to pastels

To the lightest of blues below me

      as doth be mine essence

To the shades of peach

      as is her blush

To the hues of lavender and pink

      as be her lips

      alas!

            behold!

                  between her pastels . . . .

                        she comes

Aglow with the setting sun

Her face now upon me

Rising to the heavens

      to encompass my night

I am never alone with her by my side

Though she is not near

She tells me she is here

Full and beaming upon me

Enlightening my spirit anew

Yet I fear though I bask in her glory

That the light is not meant for I

A shadow of a man

      I have thus become

Yet enlightened from the blessing of your light

Moonrise
