The Gift

The Gift

Richness of life before me

Fruits of the earth abound

The passion of the restless sea

                  my constant companion

My eternal love surrounds me

Yet saddened be mine heart

My cup now empty amid plenty

Try as I may,

thine waves soothe not my wounds

Though comforting be thine symphony …

I dance not to thy tempo

I feel thine beating heart

                  thine flow of love …

                  in each pounding wave

with the flow of thine surf.

Yet thine warm waters upon my feet …

fail to bring me the peace I desire

The love blessed upon me

                  has been taken away

How magnificent was she

How I adored this precious gift

This wave of eternity that touched my soul

But now the undertow has taken her back

Back to the essence, the source of the tides,

How I miss my precious jewel

My loving gift of the sea

Lost and wandering thine shore am I

Maybe the next wave

will bring her back to me.
